No Magnetic Monopole Electric charges are electric monopoles. No analogous magnetic monopoles have ever been observed. Only magnetic dipoles in which the positive magnetic charge is separated from the negative magnetic charge. One of Maxwell's equations is that the total magnetic flux through any closed surface is zero. This is the magnetic analog to the electric Gauss's law, but now it says that there is always zero magnetic charge. Some grand unified theories predict magnetic monopoles, but so far no one has seen them.
